Toners
Skin toning is a process of the tightening and firming the skin pores through products that cleanse the skin and shrink the pores. ( THERE'S NO CORRELATION WITH SKIN LIGHTENING WHATSOEVER. )
Toners should be part of every woman's daily skin care regimen because of all its benefits.
One of the benefits of toners is the fact that it helps to remove other residual products you may have applied on your skin Eg. make up.
It deep cleanses the skin in a way soaps can never. Toners also restore the natural pH of the skin.
There are varieties of natural toners that will cleanse the oil, and increase blood circulation in the skin, improving the health of the skin.
Here are some good old home made toners.
Tomato juice: Applying raw tomatoes will help tighten your pores, deep cleanse your skin while gently exfoliating it at the same time. Leave for 45min to work on the epidermal layer of the skin.
Cucumber Juice: A great toner, mild though but works well for those with dry/normal skin.
Rose water: Found readily also in toning lotions in the market. It is often mixed with other moisturizers for great looking skin.
Ginger: Yes, the common ginger you add to your pot of stew can be used as toner when made into a paste.
Papaya: This is used as the main ingredients of some toners found in the market. You may make your home made toner. Though it requires patience, but making a juice out of papaya is making a good toner for your skin. Excellent for sunburns, papaya toners can be stored in the refrigerator and its juice applied with cotton wool on the skin as often as you want.
Water melon: One of the disadvantage of water melon as a toner is the short shelf life. It goes bad shortly after 24hrs. But once you have it, maximize the use by dabbing a little into your cotton bud to tone your skin. Apart from what it does to your face, water melon also nourishes your skin because it has lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that fights the effect of free radicals in the body.
And Yes! Cold water. Cold water is perhaps a natural toner that is being overlooked these days. Splashing some very cool water on your skin after cleansing With a mild soap help tighten the pores.
Natural toners should be used after cleansing the skin. This is one major difference with products you purchase in a store already formulated to cleanse and tone your skin at the same time.
These natural products will help revitalize, and improve your skin health without side effects that the skin could suffer from, unlike cocktails of products found in the market.
Choosing an appropriate and ideal toner for your skin type is best done by your beauty consultant as skin differs and every skin has its unique quality.
